I currently only attend a few conventions in Texas, unfortunately time and money do not allow me to attend more. I want to use this section to talk about the conventions that I do attend and maybe hear back from folks who might suggest some conventions I haven't been to and should give a try.
The conventions that I usually attend are coming up rapidly. My daughter and her fiance are going to run down to
Ikkicon in Austin it is from 6-9 February. I will not be able to go, I have too much going on and it saddens me to be unable to attend. I will update you on how it was after they return. The first one that I will be attending this year is All-Con. It is held in Dallas the 13 - 15 of March. As the name implies it is a convention that covers many genres. Anime, Ren Faires, Science Fiction/Fantasy, and Steampunk.
One of the great things about this convention is that they take up the entire hotel so you don't encounter non convention people. So there are never any issues or misunderstandings. It certainly makes for a very peaceful convention experience. It also makes it easier to take the kids. The price of admission, will not break your budget, as it is a reasonable $25 to $35 for the weekend. The higher price is for first come seating in the first three rows for the Burlesque show. The show is included in the price of the other ticket but the seating is not stage front.
The costumes are always fantastic and last year the art show had some amazing pieces for sale. They also have a Burlesque show featuring the Lollie-Bombs, they are an absolutely amazing and beautiful group. What amazes me is the talent of everyone involved.
The Droid hunt is is a great deal of fun and is run by the
501st Legion Vader's Fist.
